This week in our series on pro-life legislation, we’ll focus on a great bill spearheaded by Arkansas Right to Life and sponsored by Rep. Andy Mayberry (R-East End). Read about it below.
Rep. Andy Mayberry (R-East End) introduced HB1887, legislation that would have prohibited abortions after the unborn child is able to feel pain—generally after the 20th week of pregnancy. Such a law is on the books in Nebraska, and we hoped to implement it here in Arkansas. Abortion is terrible no matter what, but it’s especially inhumane to perform one when it’s known that the unborn child will feel considerable pain. We plan on working with Arkansas Right to Life next legislative session to ensure that this pro-life legislation passes and we get one step closer to ending abortion.
