Ending late-term abortionsLast week the Center for Medical Progress released an undercover video in which a top official with Planned Parenthood Federation of America discusses the sale of aborted fetal remains to medical researchers.

The video has stirred controversy, because the official not only discusses the manner in which Planned Parenthood affiliates are “compensated” for “donating” fetal organs to researchers, but also because the abortion techniques discussed in the video sound ominously like those of a partial-birth abortion–a procedure that is illegal in America.

We have written repeatedly about the video and how Planned Parenthood’s response fails to address all the questions being raised.

Today the Center for Medical Progress released a second undercover video shot last year.

This video shows a Planned Parenthood executive negotiating tissue prices with the same actors posing as representatives of a medical research firm.

Although the Planned Parenthood executive says more than once that money is not their primary concern, as the actors point out in the video, it was one of the first things brought up during their conversation.

Also worth noting is the fact that this Planned Parenthood official–like the one featured in the first video–plainly states abortion doctors can change the abortion procedures they use in order to maximize the “intact tissue” or “specimens” each abortion yields.

Abby Johnson–a former Planned Parenthood official who is now adamantly pro-life–wrote a sobering column last week about how she, in her words, “used to harvest fetal tissue” for Planned Parenthood. Johnson writes,

“We used to participate in studies where we would have to collect fetal body parts and ship them to research labs…all for stem cell research. We kept their little bodies cold and preserved by using dry ice. . . .

“During the season of tissue harvesting, an intact body was gold. An intact fetal body is considered perfection in the land of fetal tissue research. But dismembered body parts were okay, too…[sic] and that is usually what we gave them. I would check the patient’s chart to make sure that they had signed the consent for us to donate their baby’s remains. Almost every woman did, because we made it seem like that by donating, they were helping others…[sic] altruism during abortion. If she had consented, then I would gather the parts wanted (usually all of them) and place them in a particular container given to us by the research company. At the end of the day, I would pack all of the containers neatly in the box with dry ice and ship them off.

“That was my life, and I did it for eight years.”
